2022 Concacaf Champions League round of 16 draw made

The draw for the 2022 Concacaf Champions League round of 16 has taken place, with all five MLS teams learning their fate.

MLS Cup champions NYCFC are joined by Supporters’ Shield winners New England Revolution, and Canadian Championship holders CF Montreal. Colorado Rapids are in as the top side in the Western Conference, while the Seattle Sounders were the highest-ranked non-conference champion in 2021.

Since its rebrand to the Champions League in 2008, no MLS side has won this competition, with Real Salt Lake (2010/11), CF Montreal (2014/15), Toronto FC (2018), and LAFC (2020) going closest as losing finalists.

On the whole, CCL has brought nothing but heartbreak to Major League Soccer, with teams from Liga MX dominating the last 16 editions – including Monterrey most recently.

Could this be the year that all changes? Check out the draw below to see how each MLS side will start their 2022 CCL campaign, as well as the rest of the pack around North and Central America.

The round of 16 first legs will take place February 15-17, while the return legs will be played between the 22nd and the 24th.
