A5,000-year-old brewery has been discovered in the ruins of the ancient city of Abydos in Egypt.

A team of American and Egyptian archaeologists came across the establishment when they were looking at the settlement in the east bank of the River Nile.

The brewery dates back to the year 3100 BC and was able to produce some 22,400 litres of beer at the same time.

As well as the bar itself, another eight rooms, measuring 20 metres long, were discovered, as well as 40 clay pots.
