Premier League Own goal condemns Bielsa’s side to defeat
Marcelo Bielsa and Leeds were left cursing their luck at Molineux Stadium as a series of unfortunate events cost them against Wolves in a 1-0 defeat.
In a hard-fought tie, Leeds dominated possession but struggled to find a way through a solid Wolves defence, while Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side did get their break at the other end.
Spanish international Adama Traore broke through running at pace from halfway, taking on several defenders and fired a rifle of an effort from the edge of the box.
The shot rocked the woodwork and bounced off the back of goalkeeper Illan Meslier into the Leeds goal to give the hosts the lead.
The visitors thought they had equalised, with Patrick Bamford racing through to score, but VAR disallowed the goal for the narrowest of offsides.
As a result, Wolves leapfrog Leeds in midtable to climb to 11th in the Premier League.
