While he didn’t retain his number-one spot from the inaugural edition of #W2WC – finishing behind Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak in second and Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer in first – he has still proved his worth to Liverpool on countless occasions.
The Brazil number one famously scored a flying header against West Brom earlier this year to practically earn the Reds a spot in the Champions League during a season where they were hampered by injury issues.
He also played twice in the 2021 Copa America as Brazil reached the final, ultimately losing to Argentina.
Of all the #W2WC goalkeeper contenders, none made more saves than Alisson’s 105, while only Mendy (78.6%) had a greater save percentage than the former Roma star (70.8%). He also tops the metric for saves from inside the box with 74, and his passing accuracy (86.6%) trumps any other shot-stopper, the closest being 85.3%.
