Champions League Has picked up a thigh injury
Paris Saint-Germain will be without Angel Di Maria for the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against Barcelona next Tuesday, February 16, as he picked up a thigh injury in Le Classique last weekend.
Di Maria provided an assist for Kylian Mbappe to open the scoring against Marseille in the ninth minute, yet the Argentine had to be withdrawn two minutes later as he felt some discomfort in his thigh.
“Di Maria won’t be able to play against Barcelona. We will communicate in a week to see where we are,” PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino confirmed in his post-match press conference.
“We will try to put out the best team in any game, that is 100 percent in every position. He is an important player, but we have a big squad.”
The French club confirmed that their tests discovered a problem with Di Maria‘s right thigh. They note that Di Maria will have to undergo further tests in a week’s time.
PSG will therefore be without the Argentine for their next three games at least, with a Coupe de France match against Caen and a Ligue 1 fixture against Nice preceding the Barcelona clash.
