Angel Di Maria to play final PSG game on Saturday before summer exit

Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed winger Angel Di Maria will leave the club this summer after seven seasons in France.

Having enjoyed a successful time with Real Madrid before a failed season stint with Manchester United, the Argentinian joined PSG in 2015 and has been part of the side to enjoy domestic dominance, winning Ligue 1 on five occasions.

However, his contract with the French giants expires at the end of the season and there will be no extension, meaning his final appearance for the club will come in Saturday night’s clash with Metz at Parc des Princes.

With a farewell appearance inbound, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has urged fans of the club to unite and give Di Maria the sendoff he deserves.

He said: “Angel Di Maria has left a permanent mark on the history of the club. He will remain in the memories of the supporters as someone with an irreproachable attitude, who has defended our colours with faultless commitment.

“I would ask all of the Paris Saint-Germain family to head down to the Parc des Princes tomorrow to give him the tribute he deserves.”

This week they discuss Man Utd’s plans for Cristiano Ronaldo under Erik ten Hag, plus what his stay could mean for United’s transfer plans. There’s talk on Kylian Mbappe’s impending move to Real Madrid, Robert Lewandowski leaving Bayern, Raphinha to Barcelona and Steven Gerrard targeting Luis Suarez.

While players like Neymar and Lionel Messi have been booed by supporters in recent months, Di Maria’s service of seven seasons should see him sent off with a rapturous farewell.

As for his future prospects, the 34-year-old has been linked with a free transfer move to Juventus. He is still a regular member of Argentina’s squad and could take part in his fourth and final World Cup later this year in Qatar.

Elsewhere in Paris, there is major uncertainty over the future of Kylian Mbappe. The forward is said to have accepted deals from both PSG and Real Madrid and will announce his decision soon.
