Real Madrid – La Liga Has played all the minutes available
Casemiro is readying himself for Real Madrid‘s next game away at Real Valladolid, having played 12 games in the last 56 days for Los Blancos.
The Brazilian is the only player in the squad that doesn’t have a recognised replacement, and since the departure of Marcos Llorente back in the summer of 2019 he has been without competition for his holding midfield role.
The last 12 matches that Casemiro has played have been in LaLiga Santander (10), the Supercopa de Espana and the Copa Del Rey, totalling 1,110 minutes on the field of play.
The streak of matches isn’t an unknown entity for Casemiro, who played 21 games in a row between August 17 and December 11 last year, only being substituted against Galatasaray and Levante.
Casemiro hasn’t been rested since December 20, and after sitting out against Athletic Club following a suspension, he returned to the starting XI against Eibar and hasn’t looked back since, playing every single minute for Real Madrid.
The recent spate of injuries that Real Madrid have endured hasn’t allowed Zinedine Zidane to give Casemiro a break.
Against Valencia, Los Blancos had seven players on the injury list, and against Getafe and Huesca they had eight.
Despite the 40 injuries suffered to Real Madrid players this season, Casemiro has always been available to Zidane, with only COVID-19 keeping him away from the team, as he tested positive back on November 7.
In fact, Casemiro has only suffered one injury in the past four seasons, with that coming back in November 2018 as he suffered an ankle sprain which saw him out of action for 37 days.
This season he has played 27 games out of 31 for Real Madrid, and last season he featured 46 out of 51.
