Another work of art for Benzema’s museum

Karim Benzema‘s classy backheel goal against Barcelona will be remembered for a long time.

It was the kind of goal that you’ll see over and over again in highlight videos and in the Real Madrid museum when Los Blancos are recounting their favourite Clasico moments.

Fede Valverde started the move by powering past Jordi Alba before playing in Lucas Vazquez, who crossed for Benzema to elegantly stroke the ball past Marc-Andre ter Stegen with a backheel.

This took the Frenchman to 19 league goals this season, four ahead of Lionel Messi in the race for the Pichichi Trophy.

Benzema put in an impressive performance as captain and was taken off after 70 minutes ahead of his side’s Champions League second leg against Liverpool.

The 33-year-old has now scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists against Barcelona in his career.

His latest moment of genius

The backheel against Barcelona is just the most recent piece of fantastic play from Benzema.

According to him, his best-ever moment in a Real Madrid shirt wasn’t a goal but instead the amazing football he showed in the Champions League semi-final against Atletico Madrid, when he left Diego Godin and Jose Maria Gimenez for dead on the touchline before Isco ended up putting the ball in the back of the net.

Benzema‘s fantastic backheel assist against Espanyol also comes to mind, as well as his impressive strike against Valencia last season, his overhead kick against Ajax and his goal against Barcelona in the 2011/12 Copa del Rey.
