Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte has expressed his delight that former club Inter are thriving without him, and has opened the door to a return to Serie A in the future.
Conte’s Inter broke Juventus’ stronghold on the Scudetto last season, ending the Bianconeri’s run of nine straight titles – a run which he kicked off in 2012. He left San Siro in the summer after falling out with the board over transfers and was offered the Spurs job immediately, but turned it down before eventually joining in November.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Conte revealed that he is following the progress of Inter under Simone Inzaghi, and teased that he could return to Italy in the future to help another Serie A side overcome the odds.
“I am happy with Inter’s consistency because they are continuing what we’ve done in the best way,” Conte said after Spurs’ 3-0 win over Crystal Palace on Boxing Day.
“I can only compliment them, I think they have the basis to stay up there for a long time.
“Perhaps, one day, I could return to overturn the predictions again.”
Conte is already hugely popular among Tottenham fans. Spurs are now unbeaten in their six Premier League games with the Italian tactician at the helm, soaring up the table and forcing their way back into contention for a Champions League place.
Spurs reached the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday with a 2-1 win over local rivals West Ham, with Conte’s former club Chelsea awaiting them in the next round.
Conte is aiming to end Tottenham’s 14-year trophy drought, in which time eight managers have tried and failed to deliver silverware.
