Atletico Madrid Arrives on loan from Arsenal
After completing his medical on Saturday afternoon, Lucas Torreira has had his loan move from Arsenal to Atletico Madrid confirmed.
After playing 89 games over two seasons for the Gunners, Torreira will make the leap to LaLiga Santander, which will be the third major European league he has played in after his time in Serie A with Sampdoria.
Torreira joins Diego Simeone’s team on a one year loan deal, with Atletico having the option to make the move permanent for a fee of 20 million euros.
While at Arsenal, the Uruguayan was a key man for Unai Emery, but the arrival of Mikel Arteta on the Gunners’ bench reduced his playing time at the Emirates.
The player has also been capped 23 times for Uruguay and played in both the 2018 World Cup, as well as the 2019 Copa America in Brazil.
