Barcelona have launched their new Nike third kit for the 2020/21 season, a design directly inspired by the city’s iconic setting on the Mediterranean coast.
The pink and green together is a bold colour combination, but is one directly tied to the city.
The colours are said to represent breaking dawn in Barcelona, with the pink a nod to the hue of the morning sun rising through the city. The green trim, meanwhile, is for the green-blue of the bordering Mediterranean Sea.
The shirt is paired with green shorts and pink socks.
It is only the second time in Barça’s history that a predominantly pink jersey has been used. The last was as recently as 2018/19 when the city’s famous street blocks formed the basis of the pattern.

The new 2020/21 shirt will be primarily worn as a change strip in the Champions League, although it will also be used as an option in domestic La Liga and Copa del Rey games when a lighter shirt is needed – both the home shirt and first away kit use dark shades.
It is constructed from 100% recycled polyester made from melting down plastic bottles to create the fibres. The shorts are also made from the recycled material.
