Transfer Market Rumours of possible departure
Despite rumours of a Neto possible departure in January, Barcelona have not considered parting ways with their second-choice goalkeeper Neto.
The former Valencia shot-stopper has attracted interest from several European teams since last summer.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal are one of the clubs that have set sights on Neto. However, Barcelona are clear that they need the Brazilian goalkeeper in the event Marc-Andre ter Stegen picks up an unfortunate injury.
The Blaugrana are willing to offload players to balance their books and make room for new signings, but they have not considered selling Neto.
Having been given some playing time in the first few games of the season when the German goalkeeper was sidelined, Neto has hardly featured in any games since.
The ongoing Supercopa de Espana could be a great chance for him to step onto the pitch, but following Ter Stegen‘s extraordinary display with Real Sociedad it is highly doubtful that Ronald Koeman will decide to change the goalkeeper for the final.
Neto‘s performance in the first few LaLiga Santander matches was decent, other than an error that led to a goal against Alaves.
Following that game, Ter Stegen returned to action and Neto has not played a single minute since in any competition.
However, Barcelona consider him a great second-choice goalkeeper, as he has shown when he was given the opportunity to defend the team’s goal.
The club have also put confidence in academy graduates Inaki Pena and Arnau Penas, but they believe that it is too early for them to be given the nod in decisive duels.
