Barcelona vs PSG | Champions League Braithwaite also included
Gerard Pique has been included in Barcelona‘s 21-man squad list for the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night.
The Catalan centre-back returns almost three months after suffering a knee injury away at Atletico Madrid, and his presence at the back, should be play from the start against PSG, will be key in shoring up a defence that has received a lot of criticism in recent weeks.
Pique has been training for several days in order to try and be ready for this game, having returned to training with the group last Thursday. Since then, he has taken part in four sessions.
Ronald Koeman is not keen on taking risks with players who have just returned from injury, but given Pique‘s impressive physical condition and the importance of the match, it is expected that the 34-year-old will be named in the starting XI.
Ronald Araujo has not returned in time to be in the squad, as Koeman said would be the case during Monday’s pre-match press conference, but Martin Braithwaite has been cleared to take part.
