Barcelona want to put their drought behind them

Ronald Koeman hasn’t stopped bemoaning Barcelona‘s lack of ruthlessness this season. The Dutchman has consistently said that his players need too many chances to score.

Barcelona have done well in LaLiga Santander in 2021, but they’re still not impressing in front of goal. Despite the last five domestic matchdays improving their numbers, they’re enduring their driest season in front of goal since 2007/08.

This season, Koeman‘s side have scored 49 goals, and they had just 41 under Frank Rijkaard in 07/08. Then, they finished third in LaLiga Santander, behind both Real Madrid and Villarreal. At the end of the season, they changed coach and brought in Pep Guardiola.

Barcelona‘s average after 22 matchdays is around 60 goals, but their 72 in 2012/13 stands above the rest.
