Bayern & Borussia Dortmund enter race for Federico Chiesa

German giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have supposedly both registered their interested in Juventus star Federico Chiesa, who is valued at north of €100m.

The Italian winger lit up Euro 2020 this summer, dazzling viewers with his match-winning displays in the knockout stages, as Italy went on to lift the trophy at Wembley stadium. His heroics have already drawn attention from the Premier League, but now the Bundesliga is trying its luck.

According to Sport1 journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern and Dortmund have both inquired into Chiesa’s availability this summer, although their advances have been emphatically rejected.

Chiesa is represented by Lian Sports, the same company that looks after Bayern star Leroy Sane. That presents a potential link between the player and the German champions, although a move appears highly unlikely.

The same goes for Dortmund, who will be looking to replace Jadon Sancho, who has finally left for Manchester United, and potentially Erling Haaland, who is attracting interest from football’s heavyweights.

Chiesa has expressed no intention to leave Juve this summer, and the club is not interested in selling him, either.

One report claimed that the Bianconeri had already rejected a huge €100m bid from Chelsea, but the Blues, along with Liverpool, are still keeping tabs on the winger’s situation.

The 23-year-old has only spent one season in Turin, where he moved on a two-year loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the 2021/22 campaign. Juve still need to pay the €40m final transfer fee, but Europe’s giants are already circling for the Italy star.

Chiesa currently earns around €7m net a year, a figure which Juventus may have to increase in order to keep their talisman. The forward hit nine goals and provided nine assists in Serie A last season, starring in a struggling Bianconeri side.
