Real Madrid – La Liga Pair nearing return
After failing to overcome Real Sociedad on Monday night, there was some good news for Real Madrid on Tuesday as Karim Benzema and Sergio Ramos took steps towards their return to full training.
Benzema was unable to join the full session on Tuesday but could be seen training alone with the ball, and he may even join the group tomorrow.
With five days to go until the cross-city derby against Atletico Madrid, Zinedine Zidane is hopeful the French striker will be available for selection.
In the best-case scenario, Benzema could have four days of training with the team, which is not ideal given that he has missed 11.
However, Zidane is optimistic that he will make it, but at the same time has no intention of taking any risks with his star striker.
The aim for Sergio Ramos, meanwhile, is to be back for the Atalanta game on March 16.
The defender underwent a knee operation on February 6 and is training on grass again and even doing ball work.
As for the others on the injury list, Eden Hazard and Dani Carvajal continued their rehab indoors, while Eder Militao is also making progress and could return in time for the derby.
