In a real battle at the top of the Serie A table on Sunday night, Atalanta will welcome Inter Milan to the Gewiss Stadium in what should be another lively affair.
Starting with the hosts, while Atalanta might have been hit with that stunning 4-1 loss at the hands of Roma last month, it appears that La Dea have bounced back on either side of the festive break. Last seen earlier in the week picking up a 2-0 win against Venezia on home soil, Head Coach Gian Piero Gasperini finds his side sat in pole position to clinch another Champions League finish. Finding a way to build off of their action-packed 6-2 win away at Udinese last weekend, the Bergamo-based outfit have lost just one of their previous 14 domestic matchups, a run that stems back to October 3rd. Only continuing to gain a reputation for their lively outcomes at both ends of the pitch, it could be worth keeping an eye out for Luis Muriel here. Once again finding the net against Venezia in midweek, the 30-year-old has three goals in back-to-back Serie A outings.
As for the visitors, managing to snatch a stunning last-gasp winner in midweek as they claimed the Italian Super Cup thanks to a 2-1 victory against Juventus, Inter Milan will find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high. Opening up this weekend’s fixtures still holding a one-point buffer at the top of the table, they appear to be enjoying life under new boss Simone Inzaghi. Last seen on Serie A duties claiming an eye-catching 2-1 win against Lazio, the Nerazzurri have won 10 of their last 11 matchups across all formats. With many tipping them as a leading contender to defend their domestic crown this season, Sunday’s guests have also continued to impress with their displays in the final third. With the two sides playing out a 2-2 draw earlier in the season, we’re backing a similar lively affair here.
