Borja Mayoral joins the group of players who left Real Madrid last summer and who are succeeding elsewhere, as he bagged another two goals for Roma against Spezia on Saturday.

The former Spain Under-21 international was key for his team against Spezia, with goals either side of half time taking his total in all competitions to eight this season and helping his side to a 4-3 victory.

Meanwhile, his parent club aren’t having the best time of it, being eliminated from the Supercopa de Espana and the Copa del Rey in the space of a week.

The 23-year-old is a product of Los Blancos’ academy and has a contract with Real Madrid until June 2023, although Roma have the option to make his loan permanent for 15 million euros in June 2022.

Mayoral began the season as back up to Karim Benzema, along with Luka Jovic and Mariano Diaz.

Jovic has since also gone out on loan and he scored two goals in half an hour on his return to the Bundesliga for Eintracht Frankfurt.

Real Madrid also have forward Brahim Diaz on loan in Serie A, at table-topping AC Milan.
