FC Barcelona – La Liga Played his 600th Blaugrana match
After Sergio Busquets made his 600th appearance for Barcelona on Saturday, the player himself believes that the current iteration of the team are playing with more confidence.
Results throughout the campaign have been mixed for Ronald Koeman‘s charges, yet of late there has been a number of impressive victories.
“Now the team is more solid, we are much more confident,” Busquets explained to BarcaTV.
“The chances keep coming in attack and now the goals are coming with them. That makes everything easier, hopefully we can continue to grow as a team.”
Busquets‘ career at the Camp Nou has been nothing short of phenomenal, with some even going as far to say he modernised the holding midfield role, and the Spanish international has quite the number of iconic moments to look back on.
“Your first match always stays with you,” Busquets added.
“My first Champions League goal in Basel, the year we won the treble and then the sextuple. Everything has been very exciting, I keep every memory stored and I relish the day-to-day life in the dressing room.”
Amassing 600 matches for a club of Barcelona‘s scale is quite the achievement, and one not many people hit, and there is an immense feeling of pride within the former youth team product.
“I’m happy and proud to have hit this figure,” Busquets confirmed.
“Only four footballers have been able to achieve it and I’m so happy for the career I’ve been able to have. Everyone has made me enjoy these 600 matches a lot, and I hope to be a part of many more.”
