Calvert-Lewin’s FIFA 21 Premier League Player of the Month card revealed after he lands September award

The Everton striker has received the accolade after an impressive start to the 2020-21 season, with Carlo Ancelotti also being recognised

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s stunning start to the 2020-21 campaign has earned the Everton and England striker the Premier League’s Player of the Month award for September.

The 23-year-old scored five times to help propel Carlo Ancelotti’s side to the top of the table, with his exploits leading to an England debut on Thursday in which he promptly opened his account on the international stage.

Calvert-Lewin headed the opening goal in the Three Lions’ 3-0 victory over Wales at Wembley as his fine form continued.

His haul for Everton, which he added to with an effort against Brighton and Hove Albion this month, includes a hat-trick in the 5-2 thrashing of West Brom.

With FIFA 21 having been released on Friday, the award for Calvert-Lewin has seen him claim the first Premier League Player of the Month ultimate team card within the game.

That particular card has seen his rating boosted from 79 overall to 84, with noticeable improvements in his pace, dribbling, shooting and physicality.

Calvert-Lewin is the first Toffees player to win the Premier League Player of the Month award since Romelu Lukaku in March 2017, having seen off competition from a shortlist that featured team-mate James Rodriguez and fellow England star Harry Kane.

The England forward’s top-flight goals this season have come at an average of one every 57 minutes, with the former Sheffield United forward having converted 67 per cent of the big chances he has had. Half of those goals have been headers.

The next opportunity for Calvert-Lewin to shine could come in England’s Nations League showdown with Belgium on Sunday.

And it proved to be a double award for the Toffees, with Carlo Ancelotti having won the Premier League’s Manager of the Month award after guiding his side to the top of the table.

“It’s a great achievement. I have to share with my team and my players,” Ancelotti said, with his side hosting Merseyside rivals and champions Liverpool after the international break.

“We’ve started really well and we hope to continue it and to win this award again.”

It is the fifth time he has won the prize, having done so four times with Chelsea and he has set his sights high for the 2020-21 campaign, with a push for Europe his top priority.

“We worked well in the transfer market. We signed players that we need and they’ve adapted really fast,” the 61-year-old said.

“Our target is to reach Europe next season and to stay at the top for as long as possible.”

The win over Brighton and Hove Albion last time out marked Ancelotti’s 100th Premier League game in the dugout and his 60th victory.

Only five managers have won more of their first 100 in the competition than that – Jose Mourinho (73), Pep Guardiola (73), Manuel Pellegrini (65), Alex Ferguson (62) and Roberto Mancini (62).
