Premier League Possible exit for Uruguayan
Edinson Cavani‘s contract with Manchester United expires at the end of the season and with the club hesitating on an extension, Boca Juniors are waiting attentively.
The Uruguayan’s situation seems rather odd, having only arrived in Manchester in October, yet he could be a free agent in June.
The English club have the option of triggering an automatic one-year extension, but reports in England state that Cavani‘s age is what is making them think twice before agreeing to bring him back ahead of next season. The striker is 33 but turns 34 on February 14.
Boca Juniors would be very keen on adding Cavani to their squad later in 2021 and the Uruguayan recently spoke highly of the Argentine club, even admitting that he had had contact with vice-president Juan Roman Riquelme.
“Boca are a giant, any player would consider pulling on that shirt, especially after a call from a club legend who shows his affection for you,” said Cavani at the time.
“Roman didn’t call me to persuade me, he did it respectfully, showing his regard, and that would be a thrill for any player.
“We spoke a little because I appreciate him and for everything he was as a professional. It was a healthy conversation and his support gave me a boost.”
