C.J. Brown is headed home.

Brown was a key contributor across 13 legendary seasons for the Fire, becoming the club’s all-time leader in appearances (372), starts (364) and minutes played (32,538). He was a member of the club for each of its six domestic championships, one of three players to do so, and was previously an assistant coach with the club in 2014.
Now, after a decade of coaching, Brown returns to the club that he spent his entire playing career with.
“C.J. is a very good coach with an extensive amount of MLS experience,” head coach Ezra Hendrickson said in a release. “He will be a great addition to the coaching staff and will play a key role in the development of our young players.”
Brown spent a decade as an MLS assistant, coaching at Real Salt Lake from 2011 through 2013, the Fire in 2014, NYCFC in 2015, Orlando City SC from 2016 through 2018 and New York Red Bulls from 2018 through 2020. He was also an assistant with the Under-23 USMNT during the 2020 Concacaf Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship.
Brown was most recently the technical director and head coach of NISA side Chicago House AC.
“I am truly honored to be back with Chicago Fire and a part of Ezra Hendrickson’s coaching staff,” Brown said. “I am excited for Ezra. I know he has been working hard for this moment in his career. I am grateful to be a part of this journey with Ezra and the team. I will do all that I can to live out the tradition, honor, and passion of this club.”
The Fire kick off their 2022 campaign against Inter Miami on February 26th, 2022.
