Claudio Marchisio has called on Manchester United’s Paul Pogba to make a return to Juventus, claiming that the Frenchman will be able to be ‘happy’ again.

Pogba – who was once again linked with a return to Juventus as well as Real Madrid during the last transfer window – has endured a difficult start to the 2020/21 season. The 27-year-old has lost his place in Manchester United’s starting lineup, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer relying on Fred and Scott McTominay at the base of the midfield in more recent weeks.

Four years on from making his return to Old Trafford, former teammate Marchisio has urged the midfielder to make a return to Turin as he will be able to find happiness again. The Italian took to his social media to respond to a Twitter post by Pogba, which showed a picture of him along with the caption: ‘Head up, look forward!’

Marchisio responded on his Twitter by saying: “Please Pogba, come to Juventus….you will be happy again….me too.”

This comes after Pogba recently explained how joining up with the France national team has been a ‘breath of fresh air’ for him, although it is worth stating that this wasn’t meant as a swipe at the Red Devils. However, not long before these comments were made, France boss Didier Deschamps claimed that the United number six ‘cannot be happy’ at Old Trafford.

Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici spoke very openly towards the beginning of November about the club’s ‘love’ of Pogba, while also describing him as a ‘fantastic player’. This, naturally, led to increased speculation once again as to whether or not Pogba would be returning to the club he won eight trophies with.

Pogba pledged his immediate future to United in October, although he did once again claim that joining Real Madrid would be a ‘dream’ move for him one day.

The United man will be looking to restore his place in Solskjaer’s starting lineup once he returns to club action. The Red Devils host West Brom on Saturday before returning to Champions League action against Istanbul Basaksehir.
