Atletico Madrid After another two positive cases
Six Atletico Madrid team members have tested positive for COVID-19 in just over 10 days and Los Rojiblancos are concerned that their men could have been infected by the new British virus strain.
The aforementioned coronavirus variant was initially detected in the UK last November and is considered to be more transmissible than SARS-CoV-2.
Atletico are certain that the club complied with the strict health protocols imposed by LaLiga, but they were forced to suggest the option of individual training sessions for their players to avoid further spreading of the disease within the squad.
As many as 15 members of the team have tested positive since the COVID-19 outbreak, which makes Atletico the club that have suffered most since last March.
According the regulations, the last six cases are not considered as an outbreak at Atletico, as at no moment have a total of three players tested positive in less than 72 hours.
Yannick Carrasco and Mario Hermoso tested positive three days before Joao Felix and Moussa Dembele did so and another three days went by after Hector Herrera and Thomas Lemar contracted COVID-19.
In the event that three players were to test positive in the space of 72 hours, the whole team would have to go into self-isolation.
