UFC 257 Ready to dominate once more
In June 2020, Conor McGregor decide to retire for the third time in four years, such was his disillusion with UFC and his fortunes within it, yet 2021 is here and we’re heading into his return fight against Dustin Poirier, and the Irish fighter has boasted a beastly physical transformation since his last bout.
There is a sense that McGregor is merely returning to the UFC to eventually get his rematch against Khabib Nurmagomedov, and right what he perceives to be a wrong result in the first fight, and by the evidence of his physical training, he is more determined than ever.
Training has been at the forefront of McGregor‘s mind since the fight against Poirier was announced, and he immediately travelled to Portugal to train for two weeks as gyms in Ireland were closed as part of the COVID-19 lockdown.
“He never stopped dedicating hours to his craft, he is a much scarier beast now because he’s been training solidly for a year,” explained trainer, Owen Roddy, in an interview with BBC Sport.
“He has been wanting to fight, but not been able to, but now we can let him free.”
