Prior to his second round KO defeat to Dustin Poirier on Saturday, Conor McGregor was already making plans for the next few years of his career, but now it’s unclear if those plans are still possible.
McGregor had taken victory against Poirier for granted and considered a boxing bout against Manny Pacquiao to be practically a done deal, although now that is up in the air with the Filipino fighter agreeing a deal to face Ryan Garcia.
The Irish fighter still hasn’t given up hope of facing Pacquiao, and a possible rematch against Khabib Nurmagomedov is still possible, albeit unlikely.
When the fight between Poirier and McGregor came to an end there was already talk of a third fight between the pair, completing a trilogy.
“Styles make fights and there are a lot of great stylistic matches,” McGregor explained.
“Me and Dustin are 1-1, me and Nate are 1-1.
“There are a lot of good matches for me.”
