Crystal Palace climbed back towards midtable with an emphatic 3-1 win over Everton at the weekend, ending a run of four games without a victory in the process.
Next up is a visit from another struggling side, Southampton. Fortunately for Patrick Vieira, he doesn’t have too many fitness problems to contend with for this one.
Here’s how the boss could set up.
Vicente Guaita (GK) – It’s now five games on the bounce without a clean sheet for Guaita.
Joel Ward (RB) – Ward has played every minute in every game for which he was available. He’s a guaranteed starter.
James Tomkins (CB) – Andersen is back training, but he’ll struggle to displace Tomkins after his goal at the weekend.
Marc Guehi (CB) – Another permanent fixture of Vieira’s side, Guehi has impressed during his time in the Premier League.
Tyrick Mitchell (LB) – The only natural left-back in the squad, Mitchell’s position is safe.
Will Hughes (DM) – Hughes had to wait a while for his first start but made the most of his opportunity against Everton and deserves another chance.
Conor Gallagher (CM) – Superstar Gallagher has been outstanding during his spell at Palace. As close to a guaranteed starter as you’ll find.
Cheikhou Kouyate (CM) – Kouyate’s energy combines perfectly with Gallagher and the pair are a force to be reckoned with when they’re on form.
Michael Olise (RW) – Jordan Ayew is the favourite for this role, but with so many fixtures coming up, Olise should step in for this one.
Odsonne Edouard (ST) – The goals have dried up for Edouard but he should still keep his place ahead of Christian Benteke for now.
Wilfried Zaha (LW) – He’s still Palace’s talisman, but Zaha is another who needs to step up his goal involvement soon.
