UFC UFC chief admits gambling problem
Whilst his persona within the sporting world has increased, so have Dana White‘s struggles away from the negotiating table, and the UFC chief has admitted he lost one million dollars on a single bet.
Having described himself as a ‘degenerate’ of gambling, White is feeling positive over the legalisation of sports betting around the globe.
“I play a lot of games of chance, I’m a degenerate, I love to gamble,” White told ESPN Sports Betting.
“What was that guy’s name? Jermain Taylor, who did he fight? I should know from the beating I received, I bet one million [dollars] on Taylor and he got destroyed.
“It was the first time I bet one million dollars, but it was because I was very sure that Taylor was going to win that fight.”
Opinions on sports betting differ around the globe, with some nations having deeply rooted religious objections to the activity, though White is a huge advocate.
“I like to gamble, it makes everything you watch more fun, much more interesting,” he added.
“I was always in favour of it, but I’m from Las Vegas, I always bet.
“In all the sports that interest me, in all the games on a Saturday, if I want to I will look what the line of the game is, be that college or professional.”
