Australian Open Serbian seeking 18th Grand Slam
Novak Djokovic will play in his 28th Grand Slam final, after having booked his place in the Australian Open final by defeating Aslan Karatsev in three sets in the semi-finals.
Djokovic relied on his serve throughout, registering 17 aces and a 68 percent first-serve success rate, and he is playing some of his best tennis ahead of the final.
The world No.1 showed no trace of the injury that almost forced him to retire in the third round of the tournament against Taylor Fritz.
Djokovic will play in Friday’s final against either Stefanos Tsitsipas or Daniil Medvedev, who are yet to play their semi-final clash.
Djokovic has won 17 Grand Slam titles to date, and he will be hoping to make that 18 in Australia this year. Should he do so, he would move just two behind both Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, who have 20 Grand Slam titles each.
