Dortmund leading race for Angers starlet Mohamed-Ali Cho

Borussia Dortmund are in pole position to sign Angers starlet Mohamed-Ali Cho, who remains on the radars of both Chelsea and Atletico Madrid.

Still just 17 years old, Cho is an integral part of the starting lineup at Angers. He has 18 Ligue 1 appearances to his name and has contributed two goals while playing as both a striker and a right winger.

The young Frenchman, who spent five years at Everton before returning to his homeland in 2020, was nominated for the 2021 Golden Boy award and is seen by many as a future star.

L’Equipe note that Angers are looking to get a ‘dream’ figure of €40m (£33.5m) to sell Cho, whose contract expires in 2023, and although that sort of fee is unlikely, there are a number of sides keeping an eye on the situation.

Chelsea have been linked with the teenager for months now, while Southampton, Atletico Madrid and AC Milan have been touted as possible suitors, but this report claims it is Dortmund who are leading the charge.

Dortmund are said to be the only side to have registered concrete interest with Angers, and the two clubs remain in talks over a potential deal for Cho.

The German side have spoken with Cho’s agent and the teenager is believed to be interested in making the move to Signal Iduna Park in the near future.

The role on offer for Cho is unclear. He plays primarily in the same position as Erling Haaland, whom Dortmund hope to keep at the club but are braced to lose amid interest from pretty much every top side on the planet.

Dortmund are planning to rejig their attacking lineup in 2022 and are also looking to add Red Bull Salzburg’s Karim Adeyemi, another young striker who has drawn comparisons to Haaland.
