Real Madrid | Transfer Market Atalanta forward has good numbers
Since Cristiano Ronaldo‘s departure in the summer of 2018, Real Madrid have strived to find an out-and-out goalscorer to replace him. One player that could fit the bill is Atalanta‘s Duvan Zapata.
Analysing the attacking output of players in Europe’s top five leagues, the Colombian striker has a similar profile to Robert Lewandowski and Timo Werner, both former targets for Los Blancos.
Crunching the numbers, Zapata is revealed to be a big attacking threat, with a goal-per-shot ratio of 18 percent, which is higher than Lionel Messi or Neymar.
The 29-year-old also excels at chance creation, outperforming Lewandowski and Werner in this metric per 90 minutes played.
Zapata‘s ability to play as a lone striker or with a partner could give Zinedine Zidane some different options in attack.
As for the finances of any potential deal, different sources estimate Zapata‘s market value to be between 30 and 40 million euros, although Atalanta president Antonio Percassi rated his star at 80 million euros last summer.
Six months down the line, however, and aware that is contract expires in 2023, the Italian club may deem this a good time to sell and might be prepared to negotiate.
