Eden Hazard considering surgery to finally end injury nightmare

Real Madrid winger Eden Hazard is contemplating season-ending surgery in an attempt to finally bring his battles with injury to an end.

The Belgian was recently ruled out for at least another month with a fresh muscle injury, having played just 15 minutes after returning from a different problem – a period which sums up Hazard’s Madrid career so far.

He has been plagued by injuries ever since joining the club in 2019. His debut was delayed because of a hamstring injury, but things took a major turn in November that year when Hazard fractured his ankle. According to Marca, those around him believe that the initial injury is to blame for all the issues which have followed.

There are fears that something is still not right in Hazard’s ankle, which has forced the 30-year-old to alter his running technique to something a little more awkward, and that is why his body has not been able to cope.

He currently has a plate in his ankle to try and strengthen it, but Hazard is now considering returning to the operating room to have that plate removed in an attempt to rediscover his original running stance and hopefully bring his nightmare to an end.

His latest injury is to the psoas, a muscle which joins your spine to your pelvis. It is thought to be quite a difficult muscle to injure, which is why specialists have started to look for a deeper explanation as to what is going on with Hazard.

There is said to be a ‘very great’ chance that Hazard will go back under the knife, but a concern for the winger is that he would likely miss the remainder of the season as a result, and his hopes of competing at the European Championships this summer would also be in jeopardy.

However, that may be a small price to pay to finally bring an end to what has undoubtedly been the toughest period of Hazard’s career.

He sealed his dream move to Real Madrid in a deal which could rise to £150m, but because of his injuries, he has never really got going. He has managed four goals and seven assists in just 36 appearances for the club and has missed more games through injury than he has featured in.

Manager Zinedine Zidane recently confessed that he could not explain what was going on with Hazard, but there is a hope that doctors may finally have figured it out.
