Emanuel Reynoso could return for Minnesota United vs LA Galaxy

Minnesota United boss Adrian Heath is hoping to have star playmaker Emanuel Reynoso back in action for his side’s clash with the LA Galaxy on Saturday.

The Argentine hasn’t featured for the Loons since 21 August due to a hamstring problem, also missing the MLS All-Star game as a result.

Reynoso was close to returning for Minnesota‘s eventual 4-0 thrashing against Sporting Kansas City in midweek, but in the end he was left at home. However, Heath says this was just a precaution and that he’s hoping to have the 25-year-old back in action for the visit of LA Galaxy this weekend.

“He just didn’t feel comfortable this morning and we think an extra two or three days back at home, getting treatments and working there would have been better than putting him in the thrust of the game, which we knew would be likely,” Heath told reporters of Reynoso’s absence on Wednesday.

“We think [Emanuel Reynoso] will be available for the weekend. And we’ll go from there. We’ll regroup and hopefully, we haven’t gotten any more injuries. We’ve got the likes of Chase [Gasper] and Ozzie [Alonso] and a few others coming back.”

Despite a bad night at the office on Wednesday, Minnesota welcomed top scorer Rob Lod back to action after a few weeks out with a calf strain. Heath believes the Finland international is a key piece and is crossing his fingers that Lod doesn’t have a bad physical reaction to the 23 minutes he received.

“Obviously, we hope that Robin [Lod] has no reaction and comes through because I think he made a difference when he came on and got a hold of the ball,” said Heath. “Within two minutes, he’s had a flash wide. His general back-to-goal play and bringing people into the game was there for all to see.”

The Loons have won just two of their last nine MLS games and, as a result, have dropped below the playoff line, placing even greater emphasis on this weekend’s clash with the Galaxy.
