Formula 1 Alonso achieved his best success alongside Italian
There are few individuals who know Fernando Alonso better than former Renault F1 team principal, Flavio Briatore, and it’s notable that the Italian has blessed the incoming Alpine F1 CEO, Davide Brivio.
Brivio has left Suzuki, where he won the 2020 MotoGP title with Joan Mir, and he will now take charge of the newly rebranded Alpine team in Formula 1.
Fernando Alonso‘s return to F1 with the team coincides with this appointment, even if much of the structure will remain identical to the Renault era that has just finished.
“Inexperience is not a problem, I want him to win as much as I did, when I arrived at Benetton in 1988 I didn’t have any experience in motorsport, I had never even seen a Grand Prix, then I won seven championships,” Briatore explained in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I’m confident that Brivio will succeed in F1, there are surely good reasons why Renault [Alpine] chose him.
“Politics won’t be a problem, it’s about managing people and the important thing is to have a car that goes fast, in just a few months he will understand everything that has to be done.”
