Formula 1 Repeats call for driver salary caps
In a row which started back during the 2020 Formula 1 season, the team boss at AlphaTauri, Franz Tost, has made clear that he doesn’t care at all if Lewis Hamilton knows him or not.
Tost had caused controversy during the last season when he suggested that drivers should be limited to earning 8.3 million euros per year, all whilst Hamilton himself was embroiled in tense negotiations with Mercedes over his own contract.
“Who is that?” replied Hamilton when he was told of Tost‘s comments.
Now, it’s clear that Tost doesn’t have the same profile as Toto Wolff, Christian Horner or even Mattia Binotto, but he is an important figure in Formula 1 and shares a grid with Hamilton, leaving it somewhat difficult to believe that the British driver didn’t know him.
Tost, for his part, has been rather nonplussed by the whole fiasco, showing a real lack of interest in the opinion of the defending world champion.
“I don’t care if Lewis Hamilton knows who I am or not,” Tost declared.
“I laughed when he said that.
“The only thing that interests me is that now there is a commission that discusses the salary cap for drivers.”
