Gianluigi Donnarumma reveals he’s ‘disturbed’ by PSG rivalry with Keylor Navas

Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has opened up on competing with Keylor Navas to be the French side’s starting goalkeeper.

Donnarumma sealed a move to the French capital on a free transfer from Milan shortly before playing a huge role in Italy’s triumph at Euro 2020, cementing his place as one of the world’s finest stoppers.

However, things have not been plain sailing for him since arriving at Parc des Princes. Donnarumma has started just five Ligue 1 games and two in the Champions League for Les Parisiens, with Navas making eight and two starts in those respective competitions.

Donnarumma has insisted that while this rotation by Mauricio Pochettino is not harming his performances, he has revealed it’s a new feeling having to compete for his place in the starting XI.

“It has no effect on my performances, but it disturbs me,” Donnarumma told TNT Sports of his battle with Navas.

“It’s not easy, because I was used to always starting and sometimes it hurts to be on the bench.

“But I’m sure the situation will be resolved.”

Donnarumma’s uncertain place in the side has already fuelled talk of a transfer away from PSG already, with Barcelona and Juventus both linked with moves.

But speaking earlier this season about rumours of a quick departure from Paris, Donnarumma told Sky Sport Italia: “I just want to laugh. I’m happy at PSG, and I laugh when I read all this nonsense about me. It’s incredible to play with all these champions.

“There is no problem, there is no type of problem, I’m happy to be here, I have the [club] that always supports me.”
