Giantkillers Atalanta have Real Madrid in their sights

In a month’s time, Real Madrid will travel to face Atalanta, a team who have racked up some impressive victories against big teams already this season.

The Bergamo outfit registered wins away to Ajax and Liverpool in the Champions League group stage and on Saturday triumphed 3-0 at Milan.

Gian Piero Gasperini‘s side were humbled 5-0 at home by Liverpool in the third group stage match, but since then have gone on to only lose one game in 17.

“After the Liverpool game, which was awful to let in five at home, we learnt and made the necessary changes,” said Gasperini.

“Now we pressure the opposition much more, which lets us protect the defence and we’ve been doing that for a few weeks now.”

Real Madrid have also had a season of ups and downs this season, including some incredible blows such as the recent cup defeat at Alcoyano, but Atalanta know they will need another giantkilling performance if they are to advance.

With players like Duvan Zapata and Luis Fernando Muriel, even if Papu Gomez leaves, they can allow themselves to dream.

Meanwhile, Zinedine Zidane knows he cannot afford another slip up.
