Liverpool vs Manchester City Manchester City took charge at Anfield
Pep Guardiola piled the misery on Jurgen Klopp as Manchester City got the better of Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
The Premier League champions suffered their third defeat in a row at home, allowing City to move 10 points clear of them in the title race.
Alisson put in perhaps the worst performance of his Liverpool career to date, particularly in the second half.
Two of City‘s goals came from his mistakes in possession, while he couldn’t stop Ilkay Gundogan‘s first goal or Phil Foden‘s fourth.
Raheem Sterling won the battle with compatriot Trent Alexander-Arnold down his wing, causing all sorts of problems for Liverpool‘s right-back.
After winning the penalty that Gundogan missed, the former Liverpool forward finally got on the scoresheet at Anfield as a visiting player, heading in Bernardo Silva‘s set-up.
The final result could have been even worse for Liverpool in the end.
Gundogan missed the chance to give City the lead in the first half, as he skied his penalty over the bar. It was City‘s third miss from seven attempts from 12 yards this season.
Ruben Dias is human. Having transformed Guardiola‘s defence after his arrival from Benfica, the Portuguese centre-back conceded a penalty for a slight tug on Mohamed Salah. Fortunately for him, the equaliser only spurred the visitors on.
