Just as Kylian Mbappe did to Barcelona on Tuesday, Erling Haaland terrorised Sevilla in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.
The Norwegian scored twice and grabbed an assist, and he showed a frightening coolness in front of goal.
At 20, his record is already frightening. Haaland has scored 18 goals in his 13 Champions League appearances. How does that compare to Europe’s other great forwards? Cristiano Ronaldo had no goals in his first 13, Lionel Messi had three, Raul and Karim Benzema had eight, and Robert Lewandowski scored six.
As well as that, his eight goals have him as this season’s top scorer.
Mbappe and Haaland are two young talents set to dominate the football world for years to come.
Both are sensational players, and are only getting better. If Real Madrid want either next season, they’ll have to dig deep into their pockets.
Big European nights bring the best out of Haaland and Mbappe, and it would be great to see them playing every week in Spain next season.
Real Madrid, though, will face stiff competition to sign them, particularly from the Premier League.
