NBA Brooklyn’s expensive big three
Expectations for the Brooklyn Nets have shot through the roof since James Harden arrived to team up with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, but this big three has come at no little expense.
Nets GM Sean Marks obviously sees the trio as being worth going all in for, with their combined salaries costing almost the same as the Los Angeles Lakers‘ entire championship-winning roster from last season.
Brooklyn are only spending 350,000 dollars less on three players than the Lakers did on 17, and by next season their salaries will have far eclipsed the 2019/20 Lakers.
The Nets now have the most expensive trio in NBA history, and their wages amount to more than the entire rosters of four franchises this season (New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Charlotte Hornets, Sacramento Kings), and it is only three million dollars under three more (Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics, Detroit Pistons).
Now it remains to be seen whether the move pays off for Brooklyn, who will be wanting some return for their outlay after all. The previous most-expensive trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Durant at the Golden State Warriors won two rings together.
