Former New York City FC winger Jesus Medina has completed a move to Russian side CSKA Moscow.
The Paraguay international initially joined the Cityzens from Libertad in 2018 as a Designated Player (DP) and went on to notch 26 goals and 10 assists in 118 games for the club.

The undoubted high point of Medina’s stay in New York came in December when NYCFC won MLS Cup for the first time – the 24-year-old started all four of NYCFC’s Playoff games and played 95 minutes of their final win over the Portland Timbers.
But on the whole, Medina’s spell with NYCFC will be looked back on as a disappointment, with the forward never quite cashing in on his obvious potential. In the end, the club chose not to renew his contract at the end of last season after also leaving Medina unprotected in the recent MLS Expansion Draft.
On Monday, CSKA Moscow confirmed Medina’s arrival on a three-and-a-half-year contract.

Medina joins a CSKA side battling hard at the top of the Russian Premier League. The ‘Horses’ went into the winter break fourth in the table, but just eight points behind leaders and reigning champions Zenit.
Action resumes on February 26 when CSKA take on fierce rivals Spartak in the Moscow derby.
