Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix is less than happy at the club and his representatives are working on a possible transfer for the 22-year-old.
The club’s record signing after his €127m move from Benfica in 2019, Felix has always looked an awkward fit in Diego Simeone’s defensive system and has managed just 20 goals and 11 assists in 88 appearances for Atleti.

According to AS, Felix fears that he will never be able to show his best under Simeone and is considering his future at the club, although Atletico are incredibly reluctant to let him go.
Felix is under contract at the Wanda Metropolitano until the summer of 2026, so Atletico are not even remotely worried about losing him as it stands, but Felix’s agents are working on finding a way to get the forward out of the club.
It’s suggested that failure to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League could be decisive in Felix’s plans.
Atletico sit third in Group B having picked up just four points from five games and must beat second-placed Porto away from home on Tuesday if they want to join group winners Liverpool in the next round.
Failure to do so would take an obvious toll on Atletico’s bank balance, and while it wouldn’t leave them forced to sell Felix to survive, it would undoubtedly weaken their chances of convincing him to stay.
Los Rojiblancos have been battling financial problems for a while now and were reported to be in around €1bn worth of debt during the summer, with Atleti selling over 33% of the club for €181.8m in June to keep them going for the time being.
Felix’s agents are monitoring whether the 22-year-old could use that situation to find himself a new side which would allow him to flourish and showcase the skills which saw many tout him as a future Ballon d’Or winner just a few years ago.
Barcelona have long been tipped to move for Felix, with Antoine Griezmann’s future regularly linked with Felix’s before the Frenchman made his return to Atletico in the summer.
