Joe Biden could demand equal pay for the United States women's national team

New United States president Joe Biden is expected to proceed to a reform that will change the history of football in the country.

Following Megan Rapinoe‘s remarks about the members of the US women’s national team deserving equal pay to that of the men’s side, Biden was vocal on social media, stressing that he will attempt to change that inequality should he be elected US president.

Last May, courts dismissed the women’s national team players lawsuit filed against the United States Soccer Federation, seeking 66 million dollars in damages under the Equal Pay Act.

Following that ruling, Biden took to social media to publicly express his support on the players.

“To the USWNT: don’t give up this fight. This is not over yet,” wrote Biden.

“To US Soccer [Federation]: equal pay, now. Or else when I’m president, you can go elsewhere for World Cup funding.”

In December the two parties had reached a principal agreement for the players to improve their working conditions and the women’s team achieved getting the same options as the men in charter flights and places to stay during their tours.

With Biden’s presence in the White House and Kamala Harris as vice president, the two leaders could negotiate with the US Soccer Federation to introduce equal pay soon.
