Premier league Has only played five Premier League games
Manchester City have now made it 18 wins in a row by defeating Arsenal 1-0 on Sunday, so there is obvious joy at the Etihad right now. For Sergio Aguero, though, there is slightly less to celebrate.
The Argentine striker has had a tough season so far and has only played in five of Pep Guardiola‘s side’s 25 Premier League matches.
Against Arsenal, he was available but stayed on the bench. That also happened in the previous wins over Tottenham and Everton.
Earlier in the season, though, Aguero had simply been unavailable. He has had injuries and coronavirus and this is why his appearances tally is so low.
His 20 Premier League absences can be broken down as follows: seven matches due to coronavirus, seven matches due to injury, five matches as an unused substitute and one match not in the squad.
Having barely played in the Premier League this season, Aguero hasn’t yet scored in England’s top division.
He has netted in the Champions League, though, scoring against Porto and against Marseille as he made three appearances in the group stages.
The striker also played 16 minutes of a Carabao Cup win over Arsenal, but didn’t score.
Not once this season has he completed the 90 minutes and his longest outing was the Porto Champions League game where he played 68 minutes.
This has been a tough season for the club legend, even if it looks like he’ll be part of another Premier League winning squad.
