Julian Nagelsmann excited to see Ralf Rangnick at Man Utd

Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann has revealed that he has spoken to Ralf Rangnick about his imminent move to Manchester United.

United have agreed a deal to bring Rangnick in as interim coach until the end of the season while a permanent boss is found, after which he will take up a consultancy role at Old Trafford.

A one-time target for United before his summer switch to Bayern, Nagelsmann confessed that he is expecting big things from Rangnick in Manchester.

“I wrote to him to say that I think it’s awesome,” Nagelsmann said (via Spox). “He will do Man Utd very well with his power and the way he plays football.

“I think United will have some good games over the next few weeks and I’d like to see him stay as manager for longer than just until the summer.

“When the stress really starts to kick in for him, maybe I’ll give him a call!”

Rangnick was an enormous influence on Nagelsmann and played a huge role in recruiting him to RB Leipzig in 2019, just one year before the former jetted off to take up a new role with Lokomotiv Moscow in Russia.

He recently confessed that he would not have allowed Nagelsmann to join Bayern in the summer had he still been at the club, with Rangnick known to be an enormous fan of the young boss.

Links between United and Nagelsmann will undoubtedly surface if this connection with Rangnick goes through as expected, but 90min understands that the focus remains primarily on Paris Saint-Germain’s Mauricio Pochettino.

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers remains popular at Old Trafford, but interest in former Real Madrid chief Zinedine Zidane has been rebuffed, with the Frenchman eyeing the PSG job if Pochettino leaves.
