Premier League Shared a tribute
Wednesday morning saw the official announcement of the death of Elisabeth Klopp, the mother of Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp.
However, in what is an incredibly sad development that is also hitting countless families at this time, Klopp won’t be permitted to travel to Germany for his mother’s funeral due to COVID-19 travel protocols.
Instead, the former Borussia Dortmund coach launched a public farewell message in the German newspaper Schwarzwaelder Bote with some rather touching words for his late mother.
“She meant everything to me,” Klopp explained.
“A true mother in the best sense of the word.
“As a devout Christian I know that now she will be in a better place.”
Klopp was last able to visit his mother on her 80th birthday and he is determined to pay his respects in the traditional way when travel restrictions allow.
“The fact I’m not able to be there is due to the fact we’re in terrible times, but when circumstances allow it I will give her the wonderful commemoration she deserves,” he declared.
