Juventus considering terminating Aaron Ramsey’s contract

Juventus are considering terminating the contract of injury-prone midfielder Aaron Ramsey in January.

Ramsey joined the club on a free transfer back in 2019 following the expiration of his Arsenal contract. Since then, he has endured a stop-start career in Turin, making just 70 appearances in all competitions.

Since the return of manager Max Allegri in the summer, it has become increasingly clear that Ramsey does not have a future at the club. The Welshman continues to be plagued by fitness issues, enjoying just 112 minutes of on-field action this campaign.

According to Calciomercato, the club may finally be losing patience with Ramsey and as he is on significant wages they are exploring the possibility of shipping him out in January.

The ideal situation would be another club signing the 30-year-old on a permanent or loan deal, however finding suitors considering his injury record could prove challenging.

In the past Tottenham and Wolves have been linked, while newly-monied Newcastle United has been another name mentioned in more recent times.

However, if Juve cannot find an interested party they may be willing to terminate his contract early. Ramsey’s current deal is set to run until 2023 and the player would expect a sizable settlement if he were to leave.

Back in October, the former Cardiff City man gave a revealing interview were he claimed Juventus did not know how to manage his fitness.

“The training philosophy and methods are different at my club from how they are with Wales. There are a lot of people here who have a number of years of managing me,” he said.

“They know how to get the best out of me and how to help me to play a lot of games in a row, like I showed at Euro 2020 this year. I’m capable of doing that and producing good performances.”
