KC Current appoints Camille Levin as General Manager

The Kansas City Current announced Camille Levin as the club’s newest General Manager effective January 15.

Levin will be responsible for the overall management of the soccer operations and is set to report directly to ownership.

“We are thrilled to add a person of Cami’s caliber to the Current executive team,” said Co-Owner Angie Long. “Cami is a natural-born leader with tremendous soccer knowledge and an expansive soccer network. As we continue to strive to set the standard for our sport and our league, we have no doubt that Cami will be instrumental in helping us achieve our goals.”

Levin’s experience in the sport spans two decades, kicking off as a top-level collegiate and professional soccer player in the United States and internationally. She was part of Stanford University’s soccer program, alongside Current midfielder Lo’eau LaBonta, where they led the school to its first NCAA Championship in 2011.

She then went on to play professionally with Göteborg (Sweden, 2012-2013) and Western Sydney Wanderers (Australia, 2013-2014).

After the launch of the NWSL, Levin returned to the United States to play for Sky Blue FC, the club now known as Gotham FC, before being selected by the Orlando Pride in the 2015 NWSL Expansion Draft. She ended her playing career with the Houston Dash in 2017 and Norwegian side Vålerenga in 2018.

“It is an honor to join the Kansas City Current as General Manager,” she said. “I am thrilled to be a part of an organization with an unwavering vision of becoming a global leader, not only in women’s soccer, but in sports. The Longs and Brittany Matthews continue to build an organization with a strong commitment towards a ‘player-first’ approach, starting with significant investment in the organization and in Kansas City.

“As a former NWSL player, I sincerely appreciate and respect the history of this league and believe in its bright future with KC leading the way. I am grateful for the opportunity and look forward to joining the team.”

After retiring, Levin went on to have a career as Vice President of Blueprint Sports & Media Entertainment and the Manager of Talent Development for WWE.

KC Current is set to kick off the 2022 campaign with a preseason camp on February 1 and officially on March 19 as the NWSL Challenge Cup begins. The Current will play 14 home games at Children’s Mercy Park in 2022.
