Cinema No longer feels comfortable
Keira Knightly has created a new rule for herself. The English actress will no longer partake in sex scenes directed by men.
The 35-year-old stated that she felt uncomfortable to express herself physically with men watching over her.
“If I was making a story that was about that journey of motherhood and body acceptance, I feel like, I’m sorry, but that would have to be with a female film-maker,” Knightley said in a talk with director Lulu Wang and producer Diane Solway.
“I don’t have an absolute ban, but I kind of do with men.”
“I don’t want it to be those horrible sex scenes where you’re all greased up and everybody is grunting. I’m not interested in doing that.
“I feel very uncomfortable now trying to portray the male gaze.”
Knightley has been involved in some of the most talked about sex scenes in movies over the years.
