Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman is hopeful Lionel Messi will be fit for he Supercopa De Espana, but did admit the decision to play in the game will be made by the player.
Athletic Club will be the Blaugrana’s opponents on Sunday after the dumped Real Madrid out in the semi-final, with Barcelona on the way up after a poor start to the season.
“Yesterday [Friday], Messi trained individually and in principle today we will see how he is,” Koeman told the press.
“He has the final word [on playing]. He knows his body. We have to wait and see how the injury has chanced. We hope that he will be able to play.”
